Skincare in spring: see how to adapt your skincare routine during the season

As in previous seasons, the spring it also requires specific skin care. When talking about skincare you need to keep in mind that the temperature gets hotter and more humid at this time of year.

Going beyond classic facial cleansing with suitable soap and daily sun protection, the use of lighter moisturizers – in serum or gel – are also important.

THE CNN the dermatologist Victor Bechara member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology and professor of Cosmiatry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), explains that the main point of attention at this time of year is hydration.

“It is necessary to always reinforce skin hydration, thus avoiding exposing yourself to the sun at peak times, that is, between 10am and 4pm, using broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF above 50 and PPD above a third of this. value”, he says.

In relation to winter, which came to an end on September 23rd, the routine can be maintained, paying attention to small changes with the use of moisturizers which, in general, should be lighter.

“The heavier ones are recommended for winter, however, they can be used in some cases at warmer times of the year, depending on the patient”, he adds.

Compared to summer, Victor advises greater caution when using acids and sensitizing substances that can lead to blemishes on the skin.

Setting up a spring care routine

  • Cleansing the skin with soap or cleansing foam;
  • Antioxidants with vitamin C, resveratrol, among others;
  • Broad spectrum solar filter with SPF above 50 and PPD above a third of this value;
  • Moisturizing serums with hyaluronic acid, niacinamide; between others;

Victor also reinforces that the main mistake made at the station is due to the inadequate use of sunscreen. “It should be used daily, every three hours, even at home (due to indirect light) and visible light. Sunscreen must have SPF above 50 and PPD above 15”.

“It is important to remember that there are different types of sunscreen, physical, chemical or mixed, and also with colors that have the function of protecting the skin from visible light that stains”, he concludes.
