“Sleep well” added to list of essential habits for heart and brain

The American Heart Association, the world’s leading cardiology body, has added “sleep well” to the list of habits essential to maintaining heart and brain health. This relationship had not changed for 12 years.

Good sleep quality now joins seven other parameters: avoid smoking, have a healthy diet, practice physical exercises and control weight, blood pressure, concentration of fats and blood sugar.

However, a study by Royal Philips shows that sleeping poorly has been an increasingly frequent problem. The health technology company has interviewed 13,000 adults in 13 countries – including Brazil – since the beginning of the pandemic.

Among those who participated in the survey, 74% of Brazilians said they had one or more problems sleeping.

To understand how to reverse this situation and rest better, the CNN Our World this Saturday (20) receives psychiatrist Arthur Danila, coordinator of the Habits and Lifestyle Change Program at the Psychiatry Institute of the Hospital das Clínicas de São Paulo.

Watch the program on channel 577 and on YouTube CNN Brazil .

O CNN Our World is shown on Saturdays from 11:45 pm.
