Small plane crashes in Brasilia farm; passengers were unharmed

A small plane crashed this Monday (31) at Fazenda Piquet, in the Jardim Botânico region, in Brasília. The aircraft was carrying five passengers including the pilot and, according to firefighters, all were unharmed. The accident happened around 9:30 am.

According to the Military Fire Department of the Federal District (CBMDF), a mother and a two-month-old baby were referred to a health unit for a more detailed medical evaluation as a precaution. The other three adults did not need medical attention.

The pilot reported that, at the time of landing, the plane received a gust of wind on the side while it was at low altitude, causing him to lose control and the aircraft to crash in a forest region. Due to the low altitude for the landing, the accident did not cause more serious injuries to the occupants of the plane.

The aircraft commander also said that he called the Brazilian Air Force’s (FAB) Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa) to make inquiries at the scene of the accident.

Seven vehicles and 31 firefighters were mobilized for the operation and, after rescuing and investigating possible risks of fuel leakage, they concluded that much of the product had already drained and there was no longer any risk in the region.
