Sonny Barger: The founder of the Hells Angels has died – The message he “published” after his death

Beaten by cancer, at the age of 83, Sonny Barger, founding member of the Hells Angels. His life was full of illegalities, his name was involved in drug cases but also “protection“but he passed away feeling safe since his wife Zorana and other loved ones were by his side until the last moment.

Sonny Barger made sure to be subversive even after his death as after taking his last breath he made sure that a message was published on his personal Facebook account saying goodbye to the members of Hells Angels but also the whole world that “was following» in the 65 years that this club has existed.

The posted post read: “If you’re reading this message, you’ll know I’m gone. I requested that this note be posted immediately after my death. I lived a long and good life full of adventures. And I was privileged to be part of an amazing club. Although I have been a public figure for decades, I have most enjoyed my time with my club brothers, family and close friends.

I want you to know that I passed peacefully after a short battle with cancer. But also know that in the end, I was surrounded by what really matters: my wife, Zorana, as well as my loved ones.

Keep your head up, stay loyal, stay free and always appreciate the honor.”

Afterwards and while it was just 16 years old he enlisted in the US Armyafter forging his birth certificate.

And because nothing stays hidden, his fraud was discovered in 1956 when he was kicked out but with an honorable discharge. Then, Sonny Barger found “refuge» in the world of so-called “one-centers”a term coined by the American Motorcycle Association to describe the small number of bikers who were branded as troublemakers.

Drugs and guns were among the charges that weighed him down from time to time.

The activities of the Hells Angels were many and in many cases anything but legal. Addicted to motorcycles and especially his Harley Davidson, Barger didn’t… react well when a member of a rival gang stole his car. After chasing him, he caught him, beat him and then he broke his fingers one by one with a hammer.

The adventure of his health

In the early 1980s, the founder of Hells Angers was diagnosed with cancer in the neck and it was deemed necessary to remove his vocal cords. The shock of their health adventure made him become an anti-smoker but for others and send a message through his book: “Do you want to be a rebel? Don’t smoke like the rest of the world”.
