Sony World Photography 2021, the finalist foto

The World Photography Organization, a renowned global photography platform, has announced the finalist photos for the competition Professional Sony World Photography Awards 2021. The names of the winners will be announced on April 15, during the ceremony that will be held in streaming and which will be attended by the art historian Jacky Klein and the presenter Nish Kumar.

Over 330,000 images were sent from 220 territories and divided into the four competitions.

A Portfolio category was introduced this year, offering photographers the ability to present individual images from various bodies of work but where their style and technique skills are consistent throughout.

Several Italian names arrived at the final selection. For the documentary category, Vito Fusco with The Killing Daisy which has as its central history that of pyrethrum, also known as Flower of death. A delicate but deadly daisy to insects and which is at the heart of a thriving organic industry for insecticides in Kenya.

Also present Lorenzo Tugnoli, with Beirut Port Explosion through which he documented the devastating explosion of the port of Beirut, in August 2020, when 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded, killing hundreds of people, injuring and displacing thousands. In the Creative category, with Ampelio and I, Luigi Bussolati (Italy) presents the photographs found in an old family album. In the section dedicated to the Environment, Simone Tramonte cross Iceland with Net-Zero Transition, Andrea Ludovico Ferro, with Zaïm, arrives in the final for the Landscape section, finally the project Volatile Interests of Alessandro Pollio.
