The state of Santa Catarina witnessed a strong frost at dawn this Saturday (20) and the Vale do Caminhos da Neve, located three kilometers from the center of the city of São Joaquim, recorded a negative temperature of -7.6°C.
The data were released by the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).
As a result of the cold, the entire valley dawned covered by a layer of ice, typical of winter in the Serra Catarinense.
This was the 93rd frost in the year 2022, adding to 59 days with negative marks in the top regions of the region.
The forecast for the capital Florianópolis is a maximum of 19ºC and a minimum of 8ºC during this Saturday. The sky should be covered with clouds and light wind.
In Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, the Inmet meteorological station recorded 4ºC during the early morning frost.

The capital of Rio Grande do Sul must have a minimum of 4ºC and a maximum of 16ºC throughout the day. According to Inmet, Saturday should have few clouds with the possibility of frost.
In Curitiba, Paraná, the minimum temperature can reach 1ºC and the maximum should not exceed 12ºC. Cold weather can bring moderate winds and the sun should be covered by clouds.

The strong cold front that passes through São Paulo this Saturday advances Espírito Santo and the south of Bahia, where it should be semi-stationary this weekend, says Clima Tempo, which talks about a large amount of clouds over eastern Paraná, of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, east and southeast of Minas Gerais and on Espírito Santo.
Cold polar air continues to spread over much of the country’s interior, the center says in a statement. Very low temperatures are observed over the South, Southeast, Center-West, in Rondônia, in Acre and in the south of Amazonas.

In the North Region, experts expect cold at dawn and at night in Rondônia, Acre and west and south-central Amazonas, and rain showers in Amapá, Pará, north and east Amazonas and Roraima.
In the Northeast of Brazil, the sun predominates in Ceará, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, in the interior of Paraíba, in the center and west of Bahia and in Maranhão. Rain showers can be seen in the north and west of Maranhão, on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba.
Clima Tempo warns that until August 24, the highest volumes of rain over Brazil will occur in the extreme north and east coast of the Northeast. “After the passage of a strong cold front, dry air prevails over Brazil again. The rain increases again in the east of the Northeast with the passage of a cold front”.
