After posting modest gains on Thursday, major US stock indices opened in positive territory on Friday. At time of writing, the S&P 500 is up 0.1% on the day at 4,243, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 0.3% at 34,560, and the Nasdaq Composite is little changed at 13,995.
Among the top 11 sectors of the S&P 500, the Financial Index has risen 0.6% supported by a 1.5% rise seen in the benchmark yield on 10-year US Treasuries. On the other hand, the defensive, Real Estate and Health sectors lost around 0.5% after the opening bell.
