The major Wall Street indices opened higher on Friday. Financial stocks rise as US Treasury yields rally. Defensive sectors operate in negative territory after the opening bell.
After posting modest gains on Thursday, major US stock indices opened in positive territory on Friday. At time of writing, the S&P 500 is up 0.1% on the day at 4,243, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 0.3% at 34,560, and the Nasdaq Composite is little changed at 13,995.
Among the top 11 sectors of the S&P 500, the Financial Index has risen 0.6% supported by a 1.5% rise seen in the benchmark yield on 10-year US Treasuries. On the other hand, the defensive, Real Estate and Health sectors lost around 0.5% after the opening bell.
