An agreement that will enable the supply of heated water in all prisons in the state of São Paulo was signed on Friday (9) by the Public Defender’s Office and the state government
According to the Court of Justice of São Paulo, the practice was already adopted in some units, but there was a need to define the provision. The service must also have an adequate number of equipment.
The government of Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) has 90 days to present a work plan in relation to these prison units that already have the service and to indicate the solution for units without supply.
In case of non-compliance, there will be a daily fine of R$10,000. limited to 30 days, with the amounts reverted to the Penitentiary Fund.
The Public Defender’s Office will monitor compliance with obligations in biannual reviews.
The Agreement signed with the Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (SAP) aims to guarantee the supply regular supply of heated water for bathing inmates.
