Part of the next batch of dengue vaccines to be received by the Federal Government will be destined for the city of São Paulo.
The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Health, this Monday (18), after the city hall of the capital of São Paulo announced that it will declare a state of emergency because of the disease.
“The municipality of São Paulo was not excluded from the selection, and will receive the vaccine as soon as the Ministry of Health has more doses available”, informed the ministry.
Until then, the number of health regions included in the first stage of vaccination was limited to 521 municipalities with more than 100,000 inhabitants and with the highest incidence rates of the disease in the last 10 years. Which excluded São Paulo.
In the city of São Paulo, the dengue transmission rate reached 414 for every 100 thousand inhabitants. Still in the capital, there are 49,721 probable cases of dengue this year and 11 deaths.

In Brazil, 1,648,781 cases were registered. To date, 513 people have died from the disease and another 903 are under investigation.
According to the Ministry of Health, R$1.5 billion was reserved to help states and municipalities in health emergencies. Still according to the ministry, 181 municipalities and 5 states have already been served, totaling R$56.5 million already transferred.
