Four people died and three others were injured yesterday Sunday when they were hit by train as they were crossing tracks at a point where there is no crossing in Catalonia (north-east), emergency services said.
The accident happened at 20:22 [τοπική ώρα· 21:22 ώρα Ελλάδας]when a group of seven people tried to cross tracks at Mudmelo, about twenty kilometers north of BarcelonaCatalonia’s first aid services reported via X (formerly Twitter).
Spanish Media noted that a music festival was being held a short distance away yesterday, the eve of a public holiday in Catalonia.
“We looked for other possible victims around the train. We did not find and transferred the injured to an ambulance,” the district fire department said via X.
Transport Minister Raquel Sanchez expressed her condolences to the families of the victims.

Pere Aragones, head of the local government in Catalonia, said he was “shocked” by the tragedy.
The police are “conducting an investigation into the causes of the accident,” he added.
