STASY: Threatens to withdraw the trains on the days of the matches if measures are not taken to prevent vandalism

The withdrawal of trains on the days of the football matches is being examined by the employees of STASY, due to the multitude of vandalism – disasters, if there is no effective intervention by the management of the company in the competent bodies. This is emphasized, in an announcement, by the STASY Workers’ Union, underlining that yesterday there were also damage to trains (line 1 of the Metro).

In particular, in its announcement, the union states: “The destructions in five trains, which took place, yesterday, Sunday 5/12/2021, before and after the football match AEK – Panathinaikos are added to a series of similar violent episodes, which have occurred, after various sports matches (even a women’s volleyball match), in the network of STA.SY, endangering the safety of workers and passengers, but this time, as we were informed by the Media other events (visit of the Pope etc.) had requested the postponement of the match as it could not guarantee its smooth running. The question that arises for us is: The company knew that the Hellenic Post could not guarantee the safe “If so, why did he not take measures, such as stopping the movement of trains, something that has happened in similar cases in the past?”.

He adds “For us, the safety of workers and passengers, but also the protection of public property, such as the trains and facilities of STA.SY are non-negotiable! Therefore, as we have done for a long time, we call on the company’s management to cooperate , immediately, with all the competent bodies, in order to take all the necessary measures to prevent vandalism within the network and the safety of workers and passengers, otherwise we will be obliged to take trade union action, not excluding the withdrawal of trains on the days of the games “.
