STF minister warns of risk of judicialization of police readjustment

A minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) would have expressed concern about the possible salary readjustment only for police officers, according to what the CNN with a federal government interlocutor.

According to the source, the alert came after consultation with a member of the government itself.

The STF minister would have considered that the eventual salary adjustment in the midst of a crisis is not convenient and could generate a series of actions from categories that may not be contemplated with the benefit, leading the STF to extend the increase to other servers.

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) has already been informed about the alert that came from the Supreme Court, according to the source.

Bolsonaro wants to use part of the budget to readjust only police salaries. The promise has caused protests from other categories that will not benefit, or that have suffered cuts, as is the case of the Federal Revenue Service.

The impasse was the subject of a meeting this Thursday (13), between the minister of economy Paulo Guedes and representatives of Sindifisco (National Union of Tax Auditors of the Revenue).

During the meeting, the president of the union, Isac Falcão, delivered a letter to the Minister of Economy with the demands of the Federal Revenue.

The document asks the federal government to grant the benefits to “reverse the serious cuts in resources in the budget forecast in the LOA (Annual Budget Law) 2022”.

The president of Sindifisco considered the meeting “disappointing” and said that the situation in the Federal Revenue is “far from being resolved”.

According to Falcão, minister Paulo Guedes understood the claims as fair. Also according to the president of Sindifisco, Guedes considered that “it was not the time to serve them”
