This Sunday (5), Minister Humberto Martins, president of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), suspended the decision of a judge on duty at the Court of Justice of Bahia (TJ-BA) who had released the performance of the shows scheduled for the 16th Festival. da Banana, in the municipality of Teolândia.
This Sunday, the schedule announces a concert by singer Gusttavo Lima.
With the decision of the STJ, the suspension of the shows takes effect again, determined by the Civil Court Court of Wenceslau Guimarães, in response to a request from the Public Ministry of Bahia (MP-BA).
On Friday (3), the Bahia Court of Justice canceled the 16th Banana Festival, scheduled to take place from June 4 to 13, in the municipality of Teolândia, in the south of the state, after a request from the Public Ministry. The value of the presentation of the singer Gusttavo Lima would be R$ 704 thousand.
In the preliminary injunction, the MP-BA questioned the expenses of the event, calculated at about R$ 2 million, an amount greater than 40% of health spending in the city throughout 2021.
On Saturday (4), the mayor of Teolândia, Rosa Baitinga, published on her social media that she had obtained authorization from the Court of Justice of the State of Bahia (TJ-BA) to hold the event.
Through a note, Baitinga stated: “The Municipality of Teolândia respects the judicial decision and will comply with all the determinations of the Judiciary, so the Mayor and her team will continue to serve the population to carry out the traditional and cultural event, which attracts tourists, generates wealth, jobs and income for citizens”.
