Cologne/Bonn Airport announced that 144 flights were cancelledwhile the airport of Dusseldorf had noted earlier this week that it was operating with a “significantly reduced flight schedule”. It had originally planned 368 takeoffs and landings for today.

“No take-off or landing is possible throughout the day due to the Verdi strike,” Stuttgart Airport said in a statement, asking passengers not to go to the airport.

Earlier this week airports in Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg grounded all commercial flights due to strike action, in the latest round of industrial action. The post-COVID-19 recovery in flight demand is causing staffing problems and workers are demanding higher wages due to high inflation.
