“Sun Brothers” a Netflix comedy and drama series, was canceled after one season . With the Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh (“Everything everywhere at the same time”) in the cast, the production reached the streaming catalog in January this year.
The information comes from Deadline which reveals that the series was praised by critics, however it failed to find a large audience. The show spent five weeks in Netflix's Top 10, but it wasn't enough as its performance was modest by streaming standards, with its weekly viewing figures falling below seven million and falling below two million in recent weeks on the Top 10.
The eight episodes were directed by “Glee” and “American Horror Story” co-creator Brad Falchuk and newcomer Byron Wu. In the cast, in addition to the Malaysian actress, the North American production also featured the Chinese Sam Song Li and North American of Asian descent Justin Chien .
In the plot, Charles Sun (Justin Chien) is a killer known as “Perna de Cadeira” who witnesses the murder of his father, the head of one of the most powerful gangs in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.
He then travels to Los Angeles, in the United States, to protect his mother, Eileen (Michelle Yeoh), and his younger brother, Bruce Sun (Sam Song Li), who is unaware of the family's connection to crime.
Charles Sun and the hand will need to heal family wounds created by distance over the years and rediscover the meaning of “family” before they are killed by several enemies.
