Sweden will send its 17th aid package to Ukraine with further military support worth 4.6 billion Swedish kroner ($443 million), Defense Minister Pal Jonsson announced today. The new package will include ammunition for infantry fighting vehicles that Sweden has already donated, as well as purchases that would facilitate the transfer of Gripen fighter jets in the future, although such a transfer has not yet been decided. “We want to have the ability to donate Gripen to Ukraine at a possible later stage,” Jonsson said during a press conference. Jonson said the support package includes additional warships, missiles and camouflage equipment, as well as funding to support defense procurement for Ukraine. The measures were decided in close cooperation with Kyiv. “Currently, there are no plans to transfer JAS Gripens to Ukraine, as this would disrupt the import of F-16s,” the government said in a statement.
