Flights to and from Damascus International Airport have been suspended, Syrian authorities said, hours after an Israeli raid hit nearby targets.
The suspension of the flights is due, according to the Syrian Ministry of Transport, to technical reasons. But an employee at Damascus airport told AFP that his activities were influenced by the Israeli invasion.
An Arab airline official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the worker that the Israeli bombing had hit a runway.
Earlier in the day, a Syrian army official said Israeli rockets had hit targets south of the capital, Damascus.
The Syrian air defenses intercepted the Israeli missiles and shot down most of them, but at least one civilian was injured and there was material damage, according to the officer.
This is the second Israeli attack in the Damascus region this week, after Monday, which left no casualties, according to authorities.
