SYRIZA-PS MPs: To publish the quantitative and qualitative data of the controls at the gas stations

At the initiative of the Head of Development and Investment of the SYRIZA-PS Central Committee, Alexis Haritsis, in collaboration with the Deputy Heads of Sectors, Harry Mamoulaki & Giannis Sarakiotis, 62 SYRIZA-PS MPs asked a question about the publication of quality and quantitative data liquid fuel.

As SYRIZA-PS MPs note, inflation reached 11.3% in May, setting a 28-year record, while fuel since January has surpassed the record high ever recorded in the country and stabilized at extremely high prices. (the price of unleaded reached € 2,428 / l on 6/18/2022).

The Government’s persistent refusal to take effective measures to support households and businesses creates a suffocating economic environment. This is reflected in the report of the General Accounting Office of the State for the first 4 months of 2022, where there was a decrease in revenues of 112 million. euros from the excise tax on fuel, due to the drop in turnover at gas stations, which according to the Panhellenic Federation of Gas Station Merchants reaches up to 80%.

The Ministry of Development & Investment announces through press releases piecemeal inspections, which are carried out by the Inter-Service Market Control Unit (DIMEA) of the Ministry, as well as the imposition of fines on gas stations, which violate the texts provisions on unfair profitability. To date, however, it has not made public the aggregate data on the number of inspections that have been carried out, as well as the violations that are being recorded.

Because, Greek households and businesses are tested by the increases in fuel

Because, liquid fuel prices have stabilized for almost 6 months at a record high

Because, the prices of liquid fuels continue to increase daily

Because, at this juncture it is important to comply with current legislation and protect consumers

The deputies of SYRIZA-PS ask the competent Minister:

1. Does the Government intend to take substantial measures to alleviate households and businesses from fuel increases?

2. How many inspections in total have been carried out at petrol stations since the beginning of the year?

3. How many violations have been recorded since the beginning of the year and how many fines have been imposed? For what violations of the current legislation were the fines imposed?

4. The Ministry has proceeded to the activation of A.119 of L.4926 / 2022 for the publication of the trade name of the companies that violate par. 1 of article 58 of law 4818/2021 (AD 124) and if so for how many business has been implemented since the beginning of the year?
