TeamGroup introduced the T-Create Expert solid-state drive under its T-Create brand. It is addressed to the miners of the Chia cryptocurrency, the interest in which has already caused an increased demand for storage devices and a rise in prices for them.
According to TeamGroup, Chia is a “green” cryptocurrency, since mining it requires not a computing resource, but a storage space. This significantly reduces the energy consumption during mining compared to currencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum, which are mined using GPUs or specialized accelerators.
On the other hand, the drives required for Chia mining must have a large resource, otherwise they quickly wear out and fail. In the case of T-Create Expert, the resource is 6,000 TBW for a 1 TB drive and 12,000 TBW for a 2 TB drive. The drives are backed by a 12-year warranty.
In terms of speed, PCIe Gen3 x4 drives that support NVMe 1.3 have sequential read and write speeds of up to 3400MB / s and 3000MB / s. Performance on operations with random access reaches 140,000 IOPS in read mode and 180,000 IOPS in write mode.
