Tarantino, Paul Mescal and Rita Moreno will be honored by the Academy Museum

The Academy Museum will honor Quentin Tarantino 61, Paul Mescal 28, and Rita Moreno 92, at its annual gala event promoted by the institution, which takes place this year on October 19 in Los Angeles.

“The Academy Museum Gala celebrates the power, global impact and indelible importance of cinema, and I am thrilled that we can come together for a fourth year and honor these three incredible artists whose groundbreaking achievements, cinematic influence and demonstrated versatility will continue to inspire generations of artists and filmmakers,” said Academy Museum Director and President Amy Homma.

The North American filmmaker will receive the Luminary Award, given to an artist whose work has expanded creative possibilities in cinema; the Irish actor will be awarded the Vantage Award, which honors emerging artists who have contributed to contextualizing and challenging dominant narratives in cinema; and the 92-year-old actress will win the Icon Award, which celebrates artists whose careers have had a notable impact around the world.

Tarantino is one of the main names in cinema in recent decades and is responsible for titles such as “Pulp Fiction: Times of Violence” (1994), “Kill Bill: Volume 1” (2003) and “Inglourious Basterds” (2009). Mescal is one of the rising names in the industry and received an Oscar nomination in his first leading role. Moreno is one of the actresses from Hollywood’s golden age who continues to be active, with films such as “Love sublime love” It is “Singing in the Rain” in the resume.

The Academy Museum-hosted event serves to help raise funds to support museum exhibits, educational initiatives, public programming, exhibits, K-12 programs, and access initiatives for the public and the Los Angeles community.
