A 16-year-old shot and killed a 15-year-old student this Friday (6) inside the bathroom of a school in Maryland, in the United States.
According to local authorities, the incident took place at Joppatowne High School, which is located about 35 kilometers away from Baltimore, one of the largest cities in the state of Maryland.
The victim was shot in the boys’ bathroom on the first floor of the school. According to authorities, it was an isolated incident and a shooting has been ruled out.
“This incident apparently occurred in a bathroom that resulted in a single gunshot,” said Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler.
The 15-year-old received first aid from the school nurse and was transferred to the local hospital, but did not survive his injuries.
According to local police, the suspect fled after the shooting, but was arrested hours later.
During the incident, students were escorted out of the school as a safety measure.
Authorities said the shooter should face the same criminal charges that an adult would face.
Maryland police are investigating the cause of the crime.
