Telegram has received a fresh update that brings the ability to topic group chats, add multiple public names to your profile in addition to your main name, translate video messages into text, and more.
In order to make it more convenient to follow communication in large groups, we have added the function of filtering discussions by topic. It allows administrators of groups of 200 or more members to divide communication into separate chats, and users can set up notifications for each specific topic and quickly view media files in it. In each chat, the same tools work as in the general group, that is, you can pin messages, add bots, and create polls. In the future, the developers promise to expand the functionality of thematic chats.
Now in Telegram you can add several collection public names of the form @username, which will be displayed in the search along with the main name. They can also be used outside of Telegram in external links username.t.me and t.me/username. A feature of the additional name is that it can be shorter than 5 characters. In addition, it can be hidden at any time.
In Telegram Premium, along with the decoding of voice messages, it became possible to translate messages into text and video messages. Subscribers also have access to 12 new emoji sets from the service team.
Other changes include a revamped night mode on iOS with a more balanced hue mix, minor visual improvements to the mobile app, better text-sizing on Android that now applies to all chat elements, and new interactive emoji and reactions.
