The singer from Rio Teresa Cristina 56 years old, will perform at the opening of an event in headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in Geneva in Switzerland, this Tuesday (16).
The artist will participate in the Permanent Forum of People of African Descent, which brings together human rights institutions and representatives of civil society to debate advances and challenges in the issue of racism.
Teresa must sing two songs. The first of them is “Zé do Caroço”, a composition by Leci Brandão from 1978. The song became a symbol of struggle and resistance of black people in Brazil.
The other will be “Canto das Três Raças”, which is also recognized as a symbol of strength and struggle, immortalized in the voice of Clara Nunes, but already covered by several artists.
“I feel deeply honored by the invitation to sing at the opening of the Permanent Forum for People of African Descent, an extremely important event”, commented Teresa.
“The emotion of representing Brazil and taking samba to all nations has great power”, he added.
