The passengers of an Airbus A321 experienced a terrifying moment in the air when its engine burst into flames after it collided with a bird while flying over Brazil.
The LATAM Airlines plane, which is based in Chile, had taken off from El Salvador for a three-hour flight towards Sao Paulo, when the sudden… meeting with the bird took place.
Dramatic video from inside flight LA3361 shows sparks flying from the engine as the pilot turns back to make an emergency landing at Salvador-Deputado LuÃs Eduardo Magalhães International Airport.
After the pilot lands the plane safely, the passengers are seen applauding.
One passenger was so grateful to have survived that he got off the plane on his knees thanking his luck.
An airline spokesman said all passengers eventually traveled on other flights.
