Today is a holiday for Tesla as the company celebrates the completion of its Berlin factory. In honor of this event, the company arranged a tour of the plant and told some details about the plant’s capacity, as well as the models that will be produced there.
Perhaps the most interesting thing: it takes only 45 seconds to assemble one Model Y crossover body (this is a potential hit after Model 3) – the enterprise is well equipped with the most modern robots.
According to Elon Musk, the plant will be able to produce up to 520,000 electric vehicles per year (10,000 cars per week), but it will take time to reach maximum capacity – at least a year, as was the case with the Shanghai factory. At first, the plant will produce about 5,000 vehicles per week. Mass production is scheduled to start next month.
The Berlin plant will mainly produce Tesla’s best-selling Model 3 and Model Y, but it is possible that this plant will later be loaded with the production of Semi electric trucks.
