Tesla has released a video revealing the “secret to a quiet interior” of its cars. Silence, in addition to sound insulation, is provided by the proprietary Tesla Glass.
Tesla rarely releases marketing videos of its technology outside of special events, but this time the automaker decided to make an exception. Back in 2016, it became known that the automaker had launched its new secret project Tesla Glass, led by Mike Pilliod, a former Apple materials engineer.

This glass is used in various Tesla products, including cars and solar roofs. In the video, Tesla shows off its “glass technology center” in Los Angeles. Mike Pilliod talks about double glass windows with an acoustic layer in between, and the use of state-of-the-art acoustic technology to keep the interior of Tesla cars so quiet.
Mike Pilliod also added that the glass panels are safe in the event of an accident and protect passengers not only from noise, but also from ultraviolet rays.
