The 3rd Attica Group Environmental Action has been completed

As part of Attica Group’s Responsibility program “WE SAIL TOGETHER”, which aims to further develop volunteerism and the contribution of our employees to social and environmental issues and on the occasion of World Environment Day, the 3rd of a series of actions aimed at protecting marine life of our islands.

Following the two successful trips to Naxos and Kos, our 3rd stop was Santorini, where on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June our volunteer-workers together with the volunteers of Aegean Rebreath in collaboration with the Port Fund of Thira worked with an excess of patience and persistence for the cleaning of the fishing shelter of Vlychada.

During the action the volunteers collected from the seabed and sorted: 834 plastics and synthetic polymers, 39 wheels, 71 items of fabric, blankets, rugs and carpets, 495 metal items, 72 glass/ceramic items and 5.5 bags of various plastic objects.

On Saturday, June 4, approximately 70 children from the 1st Scout System of Thira and the Naval Club of Thira had the opportunity to attend a briefing by an Attica Group employee-volunteer on proper waste management and the benefits of recycling and to participate in a recycling workshop of plastic from the Athens Makerspace team.

The goal of the program is to further raise the awareness of the local communities of the islands where we operate in matters of marine environment protection, circular economy and sustainable development for a better today and an even better tomorrow for all of us. Also, to instill the value of volunteering and cultivate the spirit of cooperation among our employees.
