Evgeny Lukovnikov emphasized that if cryptocurrency mining continues to negatively affect the life of the region, it should not only be limited, but in some cases disabled.
He recalled that back in the winter of 2022, the Ministry of Energy commission discovered that the energy flow was not coming from the Irkutsk region, but vice versa.
According to Lukovnikov, the department is developing a program to solve the problem of electricity flow at the legislative level and maintain the normal operation of the energy system in the region, creating a capacity reserve in case of emergencies.
Note that the Republic of Buryatia, like the Irkutsk region, is among the regions where a large number of mining companies are located and there is a shortage of energy capacity due to excessive consumption.
Earlier, Maxim Simutkin, director of energy and construction at Intelion Data Systems, said that the proposal of the Russian Ministry of Energy to move Russian miners to regions with excess capacity is extremely difficult to implement.
