The “beach of the gifts of the sea”, the most secret (and wild) for poetic days

The secret beach where you won’t find (almost) anyone exists. Some call it poetically “The beach of sea gifts” because all the driftwood that arrives spontaneously with storm surges – uprooted trees, branches and broken trunks dragged by rivers as a result of atmospheric events – are retained by the sand on the surface of the water and those who access it collect them and use them as a framework for improvised spontaneous tents.

More prosaically the GPS identify it as the free beach of Rosolina Mare (Rovigo), state-owned and without concessions. Zero services or obligations: very close to the naturalistic oasis of Port Caleri and set in Po Delta Natural Park: brackish environment, essentially, osmosis between land, water and sky, not navigable by boats due to the shoals. Lagoon area in its own right, with a melancholy charm out of season, frequented almost exclusively by clam fishermen, bent over the shoreline in search of “caparossoli” (Venetian dialect expression referring to the typical shell of clams). It was once also a beach frequented by nudists.

WILD EXPERIENCE
The environment, moreover, is authentically wild: separated from the equipped beaches and almost floating in a suspended atmosphere. It can be reached by crossing a pine forest and ponds, spontaneous vegetation and wooden walkways.

For those in search of distance and peace it is definitely a wild experience. Here you can go bird watching or walk through the dunes until you reach the Coastal Botanical Garden, unique in the humid area and Mediterranean scrub, but the advice is to lie down and enjoy relaxation.

A SPECIAL BEACH
In this strip of fine sand 3 kilometers long, iSilence reigns supreme and as far as the eye can see nature ranges uncontaminated between emerged lands and small islets sayings scans, the inlets given by the low tide where the woods run aground.

On the horizon, in the distance, you can see the profile of some fishing stilt houses. «The feeling – says those who come here – is to be miles from the mainland and a lifetime away from home. It is a different sea, more intimate, welcoming and true ». The free beach of Rosolina Mare is free to access all year round, 24 hours a day and that there is also a convenient parking available for tourists to leave the car before venturing out on foot. Each season offers a different charm and each hour of sunshine gives different effects. Given the width of the spaces, access is also allowed to animals, left free to run around in this anarchic place located right in front of the elite Albarella.

GIN AND EXCURSIONS
A curiosity:
Enrico Crivellari, 50 years old, restaurateur for three generations, knows this beach to the millimeter. In the registry it appears between 50 people born and lived in Rosolina Mare, a locality that counts in total 160 effective inhabitants. From the green juniper that grows close to the fossil dunes, Enrico two years ago began distilling a monobotanical gin with a warm amber color, which he baptized with the same name of the lagoon: Gin Caleri. Enrico himself organizes guided excursions to get to know this free beach up close. And which, lately, also frees us from the anxiety and stress of all pandemics.
