The Foreign Office has confirmed the death of its national United Kingdom who had volunteered to fight against Russia in Ukraine.

Samuel Newey, 22, was killed “in action” last Wednesday in eastern Ukraine, his brother Daniel Newey announced on Facebook, saying he was “proud” of his “little brother”..

A spokesman for British diplomacy said that “we are providing support to the family of a British man following his death in Ukraine”.

The youngster was brought to trial in February 2020 as he and his father Paul Newey faced “terrorism” charges for illegally helping Daniel, a volunteer fighting against Islamic State in Syrian territory.

However, the charges against them were dropped in July of the same year.
