The companies with the highest performance in Sustainable Development and the ESG criteria were distinguished by the CR Index

In an official event held on Tuesday 21 June 2022 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, with the Support of the European Commission Representation in Greece, the 17 companies that performed exceptionally well in 2022 were awarded, effectively implementing Sustainable Development practices & ESG criteria according to the National Index CR Index and the CRI Pass.

For the fourteenth consecutive year, the Corporate Responsibility Institute has honored and rewarded companies that make a difference in responsible business, applying the ESG criteria related to their performance in environmental, social and corporate governance issues. The Institute of Corporate Responsibility, after 14 years of presence in Greece, has now supported more than 80 Greek and multinational companies from 12 different sectors, representing 20% ​​of our country’s GDP, to effectively and measurably incorporate responsible practices in their strategy.

The CR Index is the first ESG Index in Greece that since 2008, evaluates the performance of companies in terms of society, environment, employees, corporate governance and the market, based on 100 international criteria, which are now prerequisites for the most important ESGs. indicators and standards. The CRI Index provides businesses with a useful strategic tool, which presents the strengths and points that can be improved, providing detailed data and comparison by industry and contributes to the improvement of ESG Ratings, which are of particular importance for the credibility of companies to investors- banks and other financial institutions.

This year’s event was prefaced by Mr. Christos Staikouras, Minister of Finance, Mr. Giannis Tsakiris, Deputy Minister of Development and Investment, Ms. Alexandra Sdoukou, Secretary General of Energy and Mineral Raw Materials, Ministry of Environment and Energy and Mrs. Vasiliki Lazarakou, Chairman of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, who also awarded the companies.

Also, the speaker of the event was Mr. Pantelis Tzortzakis, Vice President of the Hellenic Development Bank, who referred to the responsible investments. The event was attended by more than 130 representatives from the Greek and international business community, representatives of institutions as well as representatives of the media.

This year in Greece the first two DIAMOND awards were won by Pfizer and the National Bank, with the latter receiving the top distinction of the institution, for the second consecutive year.

The CRI Pass distinction was awarded to PRESSIOUS ARVANITIDIS, NIKAS SA and DHL. The CRI Pass this year is held for the 8th consecutive year by the Institute for companies that are taking their first steps in Corporate Social Responsibility.

The institutional representatives who prefaced the event jointly referred to the ever-increasing demand for ESG indicators and the integration of the principles of corporate responsibility and sustainability into the business strategy. The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, as well as the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, actively and actively assist in the integration of the ESG criteria, in the compliance with the new legislation and encourage actions towards a sustainable future.
