Over the past two years, the developer company has hired more than 500 employees, and layoffs are now necessary for the continued functioning of Dapper Labs.
Roham Gharegozlou, founder and CEO of Web3 company Dapper Labs, announced a 22% reduction in staff. According to him, this is not what the developers of the world’s first blockchain game are striving for, but it is necessary for the company to continue to function normally. The CEO said that the current macroeconomic environment is pushing many to make radical decisions.
In recent years, the company has grown too fast, the staff has grown too much, and this, the CEO justifies, has fettered the company, not allowing it to be more flexible:
“Reductions are the last thing we want to do. However, they are necessary for the further development and health of the company. I take full responsibility.”
Currently, the company is trying to optimize various departments, transferring them to a more economical mode. When choosing who to fire, company management considered the skills of employees in terms of future business benefits. The dismissed were promised a package of benefits, including medical insurance, as well as support in finding a new job.
Earlier, Indian cryptocurrency exchange WazirX laid off about 50-70 of its 150 employees to stabilize work amid the economic downturn.
