Pectra large -scale update will be deployed in Holesky and Sepolia test networks on February 24 and March 5, 2025, respectively. This was stated by the head of the protocol of Ethereum Foundation Tim Beiko.
The hard fork will be held in test networks in slots 3710976 (Holesky) and 7118848 (Sepolia). As of March 6, 2025, the developers plan to call (ACD), following which the date of deployment of the update in the mainnet will be determined.
The name Pectra was formed from two segments of the hardfold – Prague and Electra. This update includes eight large-scale Ethereum improvements, in particular the expansion of the functionality of the EOA wallets, an increase in the limit on the steaks of the validators and the introduction of the network protocol of accessibility of the PEERDAS data.
At the same time, some experts expressed fears that the deployment of Pectra will lead to an increase in inflationary pressure and further loss of value Ethereum (ETH).
The problem with an increase in the supply of the coin was aggravated after the deployment of the previous update – Dencun. This hard fork led to a significant reduction in commissions, which made up most of the Ethereum burned.
