The developer of the world's first supersonic business jet retires

The brainchild of the company, the first supersonic business aircraft AS2, was supposed to take to the skies by 2024, and the date of commencement of operation was set to 2026. A feature of this jet aircraft was supposed to be not only a cruising speed of more than 1600 km / h, but also a quiet transition through the sound barrier. Aerion partners with renowned industry representatives including Boeing and GE. However, this did not help.

However, the risks in this area have always been high. The development of AS2 was estimated at $ 4 billion. Probably the pool of potential buyers for such aircraft is not wide enough to justify the costs.

The company did not say what will happen to its assets after the closure.
