Safeguard the Planet and improve people’s lives. Many talk about it, but there are those who act. Edison it is one of the main operators in the energy sector and with its 135 years of life it wants to set a new milestone in the history of the sector. The company has long been engaged in development of renewable energy sources, in the use of natural gas and in the practices of energy efficiency to combat climate change. All these activities can be summed up in two words: energy transition, a process that works much better if implemented with a collaborative spirit. That’s why Edison gave birth to a standing committee, the Stakeholder Advisory Board, to engage in sustainable development comparing itself with all its interlocutors on a global and local level.

Keeping 17 in mind sustainability objectives identified by the United Nations, the group indicated six driving ambitions of its action strategy, i.e. sustainability of business processes; fight against climate change; sustainable production to protect biodiversity; people and skills as a development factor; proximity to customers and territories; dialogue with stakeholders and shared planning. In particular, Edison proposes itself as the leader of a necessary evolution in the way of doing business to make recommendations e suggestions on the strategies adopted and future developments to be shared with small and large companies with which it interfaces. High-level experts, external to the organization, engage in periodic discussions with the top management by proposing different stimuli and points of view. The members of the Committee come from academia, industry and the third sector, they meet 2 to 4 times a year for define virtuous policies to be proposed externally, in addition to promote research and innovation, imagining new solutions adaptable to changes in natural ecosystems.

All this wealth of knowledge and experience is worth more if shared on the territorytherefore, in addition to creating direct local employment, Edison promotes the development of local entrepreneurship, shares skills and supports social activities, care and enhancement of cultural heritage. In short, saving the planet and living it in harmony with nature is still possible, but if we all try together, the change will succeed much better.
