The famous Stolysnaya vodka changes its name due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The change in the name of the famous vodka was announced by the company that produces Stolichnaya, as its founder wants to express his complete opposition to the Putin regime and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Thus, the drink, which is advertised as Russian, will now be released and sold as Stoli, according to the company announcement.

According to CNN, the billionaire founder of the Stoli Group, Yuri Scheffler, was exiled from Russia in 2000, as, according to the publication, he had expressed his opposition to the policy of the country’s president, Vladimir Putin.

This drink has been available as Russian vodka for a long time, however its production facilities are located in Latvia since that year.

Stoli Group is a subsidiary of SPI Group, based in Luxembourg.

In addition, the company also announced the desire of its employees to take the initiative, in order to communicate more that this vodka “started” in Latvia.

A few days ago, the Stoli group announced that it would use only Slovak supplies to ensure that none of the ingredients and ingredients of the famous alcoholic came from Russia.

In the US, meanwhile, many states are asking wineries to remove from their shelves all beverages made in Russia or promoted as Russian. In most cases, it is vodka. Some bar owners emptied bottles of Stoli vodka as a sign of protest.

It is noted, however, that Russian vodka is only a very small percentage of the $ 7 billion annual turnover of this market, according to the Distilled Spirits Council.
