Sources say Asus will release a premium compact flagship phone dubbed the Zenfone Mini.
According to DigiTimes, the Asus Zenfone Mini smartphone will be really small. No specific dimensions have been announced, but it will be smaller than the Zenfone 6 with a 6.4-inch display. Presumably, the diagonal of the display will be from 5.5 to 6 inches.
Asus Zenfone Mini should be a full-fledged flagship, that is, the smartphone should receive a single-chip Snapdragon 888 system. However, if the manufacturer decides to save money, then we may well see in this device the Snapdragon 870 mobile platform, which is an overclocked version of Snapdragon 865+. In the next couple of years, this platform will be enough for absolutely all tasks.
In addition, the smartphone should receive flagship cameras and support for fast charging with a capacity of at least 30 watts. It is not yet known what kind of battery the manufacturer can fit into a smaller smartphone body.
The Asus Zenfone Mini is expected to come out this year. One would assume that it will compete with the iPhone 12 mini, but if the rumors are confirmed, then the production of this smartphone will stop in the second quarter.
