The secret to raising small activists? Inform them, involve them, introduce them soon to important current issues, movements, new models of thought. With this goal comes the first information festival for girls and boys: International Kids will be held in Reggio Emilia on 17, 18, 19 September 2021 and it will be the first edition of the festival promoted by the monthly magazine of the same name that publishes the best articles in children’s newspapers from all over the world in Italian.
A weekend of encounters and discoveries to talk about racism, sport, environment, feminism and much more with journalists, writers, experts, illustrators and photographers, a three-day event dedicated to the issues addressed by the newspaper for boys and girls, through workshops, meetings, photographic projections, theatrical and musical performances.
Many guests will attend, including the Afro-descendant writer Hope Hakuzwimana Ripanti, who will talk about the consequences of racism also in Italy and will talk about the movement Black Lives Matter to the youngest and the youngest, the journalist Giulia Blasi who will bring a monologue to the Reggio Emilia stage to explain why we should all be feminists, the writer Jonathan Bazzi, who will talk about the fluid generation, Gianumberto Accinelli, entomologist and writer who will deepen the climate crisis through the eyes of a bee.
There will also be music, thanks to a meeting with The List Representative. Then meetings and workshops to stimulate the exercise of the right to protest and activism. Also expected a debate on the positive and negative effects of Dad for parents.
The events will take place throughout the day in the cloisters of San Pietro and the surrounding spaces, in collaboration with schools and local pedagogical institutions. They will highlight a new format, with meetings lasting 30 minutes designed specifically for the young audience and many workshops to learn by doing. All events will be free and outdoors and will take place in compliance with the anti-covid regulations in force.
