The G7 is looking for a way to use frozen Russian assets in favor of Ukraine

G7 leaders are meeting in Italy today (13/6), where they will try to agree on a mechanism that will allow the use of frozen Russian assets for the defense of Ukraine. Chaired by Italy, the G7 (US, Germany, France, Italy, Britain, Canada and Japan) is meeting at the luxury seaside resort of Borgo Egnatia in Puglia. Faced with the possibility of Donald Trump’s return to the White House and the possible consequences of his election for the war in Ukraine, the G7 wants to ensure the funding of the military aid it provides to Kiev. The Group of 7 hopes to reach an agreement on using Russian assets frozen by the West to provide financial aid to Ukraine and help it rebuild the country.
