The Great Debate: See if it’s still worth investing in cryptocurrencies in a downturn

The cryptocurrency market, after a long period of bullishness, has been falling. Now in June, bitcoin reached the lowest level since December 2020, falling below twenty thousand dollars in a single day.

The risk aversion movement towards riskier investments comes amid rising interest rates in the United States and the rest of the world.

Bitcoin is already down nearly 60% this year, while rival cryptocurrency ethereum is down 73%. And this scenario already makes some investors talk about the beginning of a “crypto winter”, a period of cooling off for this market, with assets falling.

To further aggravate the situation, cryptocurrency lending company Celsius has even frozen withdrawals and transfers between accounts because of this instability in the market.

But there are those who see opportunity with the sector in decline. Is this a good period to enter this type of investment?

To help understand this scenario, on the one hand Safiri Felix, Director of Products and Partnerships at Transfero, who advocates investing in cryptos. On the other hand, Fabiana Cataldo, a partner at Legend Investimentos, who prefers to bet on other assets.

“The Great Debate – Investments” will always have the presence of two specialists with opposing views to debate the pros and cons of different investment options and solutions, as well as topics from the world of personal finance and the financial market.

The attraction is weekly and airs on Mondays at 8:50 pm.
