The interim manager of the Mt.Gox exchange announced the start date of compensation payments

The interim trustee of the Mt.Gox exchange published information on the timing of indemnification of creditors and announced a moratorium on the filing of new compensation claims.

Nobuaki Kobayashi said that customers affected by the collapse of the Mt.Gox cryptocurrency exchange must apply for compensation for the loss caused no later than September 14, 2022. They need register in the online system for filing claims for reimbursement, as well as fill out a special form on the site Claims.MtGox.com, in which you should indicate your preferred form of repayment:

“Delays in filing could result in creditors not being able to receive their payments, as the eventual repayment date would be significantly pushed back, and in the worst case, the amount could be deposited with the Tokyo Bureau of Legal Affairs.”

In accordance with the Mt.Gox exchange’s creditor recovery plan and the Tokyo District Court’s ruling, the repayment procedure is due to begin on September 15th.

Compensation payments will be made both in bitcoins and in cash received from the sale of cryptocurrency. If payments will be made in cash received from the sale of cryptocurrencies, then with the permission of the court, a different date of maturity may be set, different from the dates of maturity of other claims for compensation.

Hobuaki Kobayashi draws the attention of users to the fact that from the beginning of the first round of Mt.Gox losses until its completion, a moratorium is introduced on the submission of new applications. Also at this stage, the assignment, transfer or succession, provision as a pledge or disposal by other means of claims against Mt.Gox will be prohibited.

Mt.Gox’s original creditor claim deadline ended on October 22, 2018. However, in November, lawyer Nobuaki Kobayashi announced that he wanted to extend the deadline for accepting claims for damages, since the exchange’s creditors are located in different parts of the world.
