The days of “chalkboards” and scuffles on the water’s edge are long over. Dell ‘Island of the Famous of yesterday there remained only the rumble in the stomach of the castaways exhausted by hunger and the infinite proofs of advantage and reward which, more thanIsola, seemed to stand in Games without Frontiers. That of 2021, produced by Banijay Italia, however, it was not an easy issue: it was the first after the outbreak of the pandemic, the first to have been built in record time with a productive effort that led the company to ask itself several times if it was appropriate to focus on a closer location or, at least, to blow it up, and the first to have bet on a new fixed cast and a new formula.
After the good results of the Big Brother Vip, however, Mediaset believed in it and, beyond all the technical and logistical difficulties, managed to bring home aIsola not particularly memorable from the point of view of the content, but which has also tried to bring a bit of lightness to a television that is continually machine-gunned by Covid and talk shows.
The first noteworthy novelty was the entry of Ilary Blasi which, after three editions of GF VIP and one of Eurogames, has managed to shape theIsola in his image and likeness: his light attitude, his innate ability to provoke and create small catchphrases (like the gaffes of the Palapa that has become “potato” and the duel that has become “durello”) scored in the first starts losing power in the second, weighed down by names of little importance and by increasingly flat dynamics, unable to remain impressed in the spectators, fueled by the famous discourse of “strategy” which, once again, has also somewhat exhausted its innovative drive. Beyond Blasi, who in an interview with FQ Magazine she said she was ready to lead the cabin for another edition, another point that did not convince was the trio of pundits in the studio: if we already knew Iva Zanicchi’s way of approaching the vehicle (remember the double meanings given to the Nip edition of Big Brother branded Barbara D’Urso), curiosity was all for Tommaso Zorzi, fresh from the victory of GF VIP, and for Elettra Lamborghini that, after the twerk in Sanremo, has faced a media overexposure which, at this point, should push it to disappear for a while to catch its breath. If Elettra was often engulfed, showing a total lack of interest in the game and for the castaways whose name she often did not remember (let alone us), Zorzi, driven by the need to show himself prepared and “on track”, tried as best he could to convey attention, sometimes succeeding (as in the case of Gilles Rocca) and sometimes failing (we are however at the first experiences, it is normal to take measures).
The thorniest chapter ofIsland of the Famous 2021 it is addressed, however, to two other fundamental components of the program: the role of envoy of Massimiliano Rosolino, who often proved unable to relate promptly with Ilary and manage television times, and, of course, the names enlisted in the cast who, more often than not, turned out to be holes in the water. Leaving aside the abandonment of Elisa Isoardi, one of the characters to have come out better from this edition, we cannot fail to mention Fariba Tehrani, who also thanks to the unbridled cheering of her daughter Giulia Salemi managed to keep the bench in Honduras as long as she could; Vera Gemma, which has also brought a little notoriety to her boyfriend Jeda, very much courted for the next reality shows made in Canale 5; Drusilla Gucci and his little skulls and skeletons, and the chromatologist Ubaldo Lanzo. The rest, along with certain parched controversies such as those brought forward by Andrea Cerioli and Gilles Rocca, including the missed kiss in apnea with Francesca Lodo so as not to irritate his girlfriend, they left some time they found. And if we would have gladly done without Daniela Martani who, fortunately, never came up with her ideas on Covid, it must be said that other castaways have remained so impressed that it is necessary to go to the Mediaset website to remember their names . Tonight, June 7, the final will be held (the finalists are Awed, Ignazio Moser, Beatrice Marchetti, Andrea Cerioli, Matteo Diamante and Valentina Persia), the first with a remote proclamation due to the safety protocols. The winner’s name, as we know, matters relatively in a reality show like l‘Isola: what matters is that Canale 5 is successful, despite the concomitance with the broadcast of Survivors which prevented the program from broadcasting the Thursday episode live for several weeks, was brought safely to port. With some valuable lessons to remember for the next edition.
