He escaped from the prison where he was being held a young man who confessed to killing ten children and sucking the blood of at least one in Kenya, with the media describing him “vampire». 20-year-old Masten Milimo Wanjala was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday 13/10 accused of multiple murder charges.
However, according to the BBC, the police realized that he had escaped from Nairobi prison.
Authorities have now launched a manhunt to locate the fugitive and have also arrested three police officers who were on duty during his escape from the Jogoo Road police station.
His Governor Nairobi, Mike Sonko, offered a fee of 16 1,316 (approximately € 1,500) to anyone who is able to assist officers in locating Guangzala.
How the authorities got to arrest the vampire
The 20-year-old was arrested in July. Police located him after two bodies were found dumped in Cabete, outside Nairobi. He confessed to ten murders in five years and had helped police retrieve the bodies.
He has been linked to several other disappearances in recent months, although police say it is not yet clear what his motive was.
Police are trying to determine if Wanjala had accomplices or if he worked alone.
The suspect drove detectives to the scene of several murders in July, with police taking photos and videos as evidence. Many of the crime scenes were dense bushes near corn plantations, and the young man also dumped the bodies in open sewer pipes.
Wanjala’s five-year killing spree began when he was just 16 years old, local media reported. He allegedly abducted 12-year-old Purity Maweu and sucked her blood before leaving her dead.
Wanjala is believed to have struck again, three years later, in western Kenya, killing 13-year-old Aron. The death of the young boy led to violent demonstrations in Kamukuywa, in which residents set fire to a house they believed belonged to the suspect.
