The Kremlin accuses Ukraine of inconsistency in the negotiations

The Kremlin today accused Ukraine of constantly changing its stance on issues already agreed in the peace talks.

In particular, according to Reuters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov told reporters in a teleconference that “contacts are continuing at the level of experts in the negotiation process.”

However, he said that “unfortunately the Ukrainian side is not consistent with the points agreed.”

“It often changes its position and so the negotiation process is not going well enough,” he added.

“There is still time to convert contracts into rubles”

At the same time, Mr Peshkov said there was still time for what – as Moscow calls them – “unfriendly” countries to switch to ruble payments for gas.

However, he declined to disclose information on how many countries have agreed to do so.

It is recalled that a decree of Russian President Putin in late March, required foreign buyers to pay in Russian currency for gas, a move that European countries rejected and Germany called “blackmail.”

Putin further clarified that payments can continue to be made in euros and dollars but that Gazprombank will convert the amounts into rubles, something that has not finally clarified the status but was welcomed by the Old Continent.

In any case, D. Peshkov said today that payments for gas deliveries made after the Putin decree came into force are expected in May.
