“The Last of Us” series has the best debut on HBO Max in Latin America

The first episode of “The Last of Us” had the best HBO Max debut in Latin America, surpassing “A Casa do Dragão” and the 2nd season of “Euphoria”.

With episodes released weekly at 11pm [horário de Brasília]the first chapter premiered last Sunday (15) marking the world launch of the series.

In addition to the success at launch, the production, based on the acclaimed game of the same name, debuted with strong critical acclaim and extremely positive reviews on the internet.

On opening night, “The Last of Us” reached #1 on Twitter’s trending topics. Additionally, 15 of the top 30 hashtags in Brazil were about the series during its opening night.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the main aggregator of reviews on the internet, the series has a 99% approval rating from specialized critics and 96% from the public.

The series is set in a post-apocalyptic scenario after the spread of a fungus turns people into cannibalistic zombies.

The plot follows Joel and Ellie’s adventure and fight for survival outside an oppressive quarantine zone.

The series stars Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian” and “Narcos”) and Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones” and “The Worst Witch”) and features Craig Mazin, responsible for “Chernobyl”, also from HBO, in production.
