Latvia's foreign minister, Krisjanis Karins, has resigned over accusations of traveling on expensive private flights instead of cheaper commercial ones. After the meeting he had with Prime Minister Evika Silinia, Karins today announced that he will resign from his duties on April 10. The House may decide on his/her successor the next day, he said. The Latvian Foreign Minister left the government building without making any further statements. Karins was criticized for the charter flights he chose to travel on during his tenure as prime minister. The 59-year-old politician headed the country's government from 2019 to 2023 and reportedly traveled abroad dozens of times on private jets instead of cheaper, commercial flights during that time.
