During the SPIEF, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Olga Skorobogatova signed an agreement on introducing payment for capital transport services in digital rubles.

The mayor’s press service clarified that after the massive launch of the national digital currency of the Bank of Russia, residents of the capital will be able to pay with digital rubles not only for travel, but also for other transport services. For example, it will be possible to pay for parking in Moscow.

In addition, it is planned to sign Russia’s first smart contract for insurance of urban transport rolling stock in digital rubles. According to the capital’s administration, this will automate contractual procedures and ensure control over the fulfillment of obligations.

Let us remind you that since August 2023, the State Unitary Enterprise “Moscow Metro” and PJSC “VTB Bank” have been jointly testing payment for metro services in digital rubles. To conduct financial transactions and control the passage of payments, a special digital account was opened on the Bank of Russia platform.
