The provision on cryptocurrency can be introduced into the Civil Code of the Russian Federation by the end of the spring session of parliament, said Pavel Krasheninnikov, head of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation. TASS reports.
They want to include the cryptocurrency in the part of the Civil Code concerning objects. According to Krashennikov, the cryptocurrency is going to be included in the Code, “so that it automatically applies to inherited relations, in case of divorce, bankruptcy, and so on.”
He noted that although the ruble remains the legal tender, the agreements may provide for settlements in cryptocurrencies.
“We will remove this paradox when there is a cryptocurrency, but it is not regulated by anything,” Krasheninnikov said.
The fact that the Civil Code may be amended to allow the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of contractual payment became known at the end of May.
