The Grammy Awards have launched a new dynamic to select their nominees, opting for a popular vote and eliminating the controversial “secret committee” that had been in charge of selecting the final list for decades. Although many of the stars nominated this year are quite well known, there were some surprises.
Jon Batiste, jazz keyboardist and musical director of television shows, has received no more and no less than 11 nominations for his latest album We Are and the music he composed for the animated film Soul, thus showing that the awards have been fair in recognizing the talent and musicality of its nominees.
On the other hand, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and HER are some of the artists who have received eight nominations each, while Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo, the latter with just one album on the market, are nominated in the most important categories such as Album of the Year and Song of the Year.
Camilo, Selena Gomez and Pablo Alborán received nominations for Best Latin Album, while Rauw Alejandro, Bad Bunny and J Balvin reigned in the category of Best Urban Music Album. Here we share a little of the nominees for the most important categories.
