The number of Brazilians asking the government for repatriation rises to 2,200

The number of Brazilians who made an expatriation request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) rose to 2,200 since the beginning of the Israel War , on Israeli territory and in the Gaza Strip. Government sources state that, in this number, there are 25 Brazilians who are in Gaza.

As the borders are closed, the Brazilian government is in contact with the embassy in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, to try to remove the group that is in Gaza from the country. Interlocutors claim that, as the Gaza Strip is controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood, Itamaraty is trying to contact the Islamic group to negotiate repatriation.

At least three Brazilians are missing in Israel after attacks by the Islamic group Hamas, classified by the United States and the European Union as a terrorist group. They were at a music festival in the south of the country, which was the target of the first attacks by Hamas.

The first Brazilians rescued in Israel are expected to arrive in Brazil in the early hours of Wednesday (11). They leave Israel on a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) flight, scheduled to last 14 hours, directly from Tel Aviv to Brasília.

The FAB’s first KC-30 aircraft made a connection in Rome, the capital of Italy. The model has capacity for up to 230 passengers.

The planning includes the embarkation of Brazilians in Tel Aviv. Takeoff should take place around 12 noon (Brasília time). The flight will be direct to Brasília Air Base, where disembarkation will take place.

The FAB reported that four more aircraft are ready for the mission: two KC-390s, with capacity for up to 80 passengers each; and two VC-2s, provided by the Presidency of the Republic, which can carry up to 38 passengers each.

Around 14 thousand Brazilians live in Israel and 6 thousand in Palestine, according to Itamaraty estimates, with the majority outside the conflict area.
